A tanning salon in Longueuil will have to pay several thousand dollars to recover from losses caused by a fire which destroyed part of the commercial premises on Sunday.
“The fire broke out at the front of the business, there was $150,000 worth of damage to the building and another $50,000 worth of material loss,” underlines Sébastien Chrétien, division head of the fire services at the City of Longueuil.

More than 35 firefighters were called to respond to the fire overnight from Saturday to Sunday.

We do not yet know the exact causes of the accidental fire, but it is believed to be of electrical origin. The cold is not believed to be a factor in this incident, but with the temperatures expected over the coming days, vigilance remains essential.
“Hydro-Québec often mentions it, but we suggest reducing the heating. We also invite people to follow the basic rules, in particular clearing heaters, but these are instructions to follow at all times,” he concludes.
