But the period of mourning has already begun: since the announcement of the disappearance of the French politician, who was said to be Monegasque at heart, the flags have been at half-mast on all the buildings in the principality, and this until the end of the funeral.

From this Monday, January 20, from 10 a.m., an ardent chapel, accompanied by a register of condolences open to all, will be installed on the Town Hall Square in the Chapel of Mercy, indicates the government of Monaco.

A minute of silence will also be observed at 11 a.m. Monday. It will be announced by a siren “welcoming everyone to reflect“.

For the funeral of Didier Guillaume, this Thursday, January 23 was declared a day of national mourning by Prince Albert II. However, it is not a public holiday for the principality: shops will be open and economic activity will be normal, specifies the Monegasque government.

At the end of this week of tributes to Monaco, the body of the former French Minister of Agriculture will be repatriated to his original department, Drôme, this Friday January 24, as reported by our colleagues from Dauphiné Libéré. A new tribute will be paid to him on Saturday January 25 in Bourg-de-Péage, his hometown of which he was mayor for 10 years.

On the Monaco side, it is Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Minister of External Relations and Cooperation, who has been acting Minister of State since the hospitalization of Didier Guillaume on January 10. “The government fully exercises its authority and does its job“, we tell France 3 Côte d’Azur, even if it is specified that, given the circumstances, the interim of Isabelle Berro-Amadeï in this position “might be a little longer“.
