Alex Nedeljkovic has become one of the few goalkeepers who can boast of having scored a goal in the National League.
Friday night in Buffalo, he scored in an empty net in a 5-2 win for the Pittsburgh Penguins over the Sabres.

The 29-year-old American is the 16th goalkeeper in history to have achieved the feat. Others are Billy Smith, Ron Hextall (twice), Chris Osgood, Martin Brodeur (three times), Damian Rhodes, José Théodore, Evgeni Nabokov, Mika Noronen, Chris Mason, Cam Ward, Mike Smith, Pekka Rinne, Linus Ullmark, Tritan Jarry and Filip Gustavsson.
This victory against the Sabers ended a three-game losing streak for the Penguins.

In the heart of the race for a place in the playoffs, the “Pens” now have 46 points. That’s three fewer than the Boston Bruins, the team that currently has the last spot giving access to the spring dance in the Eastern Conference.
In their matchup today, the Penguins saw the Sabers be the first to get on the mark. Owen Power took advantage of a power play to put the puck behind Alexander Nedeljkovic’s back.
The visitors scored the next four goals. Rickard Rakell, Anthony Beauvillier and Cody Glass scored in the second, while Bryan Rust scored in the third.
Zach Benson gave the Sabers hope, before Nedeljkovic threw a shower of cold water on the KeyBank Center.
