FRANKFURT, Germany – Borussia Dortmund’s struggles deepened on Friday with a 2-0 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt, marking their third straight Bundesliga defeat and plunging the Ruhr Valley club into deep crisis.
The latest result increases pressure on coach Nuri Sahin, who is under fire despite the support expressed by the club’s management following a midweek defeat to currently struggling Holstein Kiel.
The visitors started with promise, Serhou Guirassy hitting the post with a header in the ninth minute. However, they were surprised just nine minutes later when Eintracht launched a counter-attack, resulting in a goal from Hugo Ekitike after initiating the move.
Despite the absence of their star striker Omar Marmoush, Eintracht nearly doubled their lead soon after, with Ansgar Knauff’s curling shot hitting the post.
Before the match, it was reported that transfers were being discussed regarding Marmoush’s departure to an unnamed club. Manchester City are reportedly close to completing a deal for the Egyptian striker, who was seen congratulating his Eintracht teammates after the match, in what could mark a farewell to supporters.

-As Dortmund prepares for their Champions League match against Bologna on Tuesday, the team is struggling to regain momentum. Serhou Guirassy called for two penalties after being fouled in the box, but instead received a yellow card for his protests.
Eintracht sealed their victory when Oscar Hojlund took advantage of a mistake in Dortmund’s defense, driving into the box and securing the win.
“At the end of the day, football is about results, and we failed to get a positive result today,” Dortmund midfielder Pascal Gross said. “We put in a decent effort in the second half, but this level of performance should be the standard. It was acceptable, but it should be routine. In the end, we didn’t win, and that’s all that matters. »
