The day began on the snowy terrain of Pragelato for the men’s and women’s cross-country skiing qualifications. After several rounds, it was Kaidi Kaasiku (Estonia) for the women, and the Swiss Nolan Gertsch (men) who won the Gold medals.
For alpine skiing, two medals were also at stake for the Super-G. Among the women, it was the Frenchwoman Louison Accambray who finished with the precious medal. For the men, the Gold medalist is the Spaniard Ander Mintegui.
The day continued with the freeski events. Here again, consecration for the French delegation with the Gold medal for Victoire Tillier for the women, and Hugo Picouet for the men!
The highly anticipated para-cross-country skiing event took place this Thursday, January 17. Among the women, the classic sprint was won by Tabea Dolzan (Slovenia). For the men, two medals were won: Gold by the Finnish Inkki Inola and his guide Reetu Inkila in the “visually impaired” category. Denis Zinov (Kazakhstan) won Gold in the standing category.
At the end of the day, the mixed ski mountaineering relay race ended with the victory of the France 1 team.
This Thursday, January 17, was a busy day as the snowboard slopestyle events also took place. Among the women, Gold was won by Tanja Tinkara Valcl (Slovenia) and by Frenchman Noé Petit among the men.
Like the previous days, many Curling meetings, 20 to be exact, took place. For this third qualifying round among women, the victories go to Japan, Sweden, Canada, Norway and the Republic of Korea. We had to wait until the end of the evening for session 4 of these matches, with victories for Japan, the Republic of Korea, China and Japan.
-Among the men, round 3 ended with the victory of Italy, Ukraine, Switzerland, China and Norway. For session 4, the winners are: Norway, United States, Switzerland, Italy and Canada.
In ice hockey, 6 matches (4 for men and 2 for women) took place this day. For the women, it was the semi-final play-outs. At the end of the two matches, it was the United States and Kazakhstan who qualified.
For the men, it was the preliminary rounds of groups A and B. These matches ended with the victories of the Republic of Korea and the Czechia for group A. In group B it was Japan and the United States -United States who won. It was also the last meeting of the day.
For the free dance event in figure skating, the Gold medal was awarded to Spaniards Sofia Val and Asaf Kazimov.
After this busy day, let’s take stock of the medals. France is first with 23 medals in total, followed by Germany and its 16 medals. To close this podium, it is Spain with 9 medals. But the next few days could well change the rankings!
