Catalan television channel TV3 reported that the victim “did not participate in any activities, but was playing alone.” Other elements of the investigation, which will make it possible to determine the exact circumstances of the tragedy, indicate that the football goal was located in a corner of the field, outside the limits of the multi-sports field.

Jaume Domènech, mayor of the Catalan town, however detailed that the goal was hung with a padlock in “safe conditions”, and that there had “never been a problem before” in this complex where many young people play after school.

The mayor expressed his “deepest condolences to the family, friends and all residents of the Ordal district for this tragic loss”.
