The world of football is in mourning following the loss of legendary former Manchester United and Manchester City striker Denis Law, who has died at the age of 84.
Denis Law, the only Scot to have ever won the Ballon d’Or, died this Friday, his family announced.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our father Denis Law. He fought a difficult battle, but he is now at peace. We would like to thank everyone who contributed to his well-being and care, in the past and more recently. We know how much people supported and loved him and that love was always appreciated and made a difference. Thank you all “
The former footballer wore the colors of Manchester United and scored 237 goals in 404 matches in the red jersey of the Reds Devils. He is the third highest scorer in the team’s history behind Wayne Rooney and Bobby Charlton.

His former club, Manchester United, where he is part of a statue of three outside Old Trafford with colleagues Charlton and George Best, said Law would always be regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the club.

We extend our deepest condolences to Denis’ family and many friends. His memory will remain forever engraved in our memories. »
After starting his career at Huddersfield, Denis Law joined Torino in Italy early in his career, but failed to settle there, and eventually joined Manchester United in 1962. In 2021, he was diagnosed Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia.
