JUSTICE. The preliminary investigation into Keven Deblois, who is accused of the second degree murder of Karine Bélanger, began last week at the Saint-Joseph courthouse.

The 27-year-old Mariverain has been detained since his arrest on October 12, 2022. He is also accused of contempt of the body of Ms. Bélanger, theft of a vehicle and setting it on fire and theft of a credit card.

Remember that on September 25, 2022, the body of Ms. Bélanger was found in a burned van on Rang Saint-Pierre in Saint-Bernard. The victim was 36 years old. The accused was arrested a few weeks later while in the Quebec detention center, after his parole was revoked.

His preliminary investigation continued on January 16 for a third day, at press time.
