Le Saint-Mandé, located in the heart of the village of Ferrière-Larçon, has just changed hands, but with continuity. Marco Gauthier, the former owner of the place and chef in the kitchen, had worked for a long time to build the restaurant’s reputation. Amélie d’Huicque, already in the restaurant for more than a year, and a native of Ferrière-Larçon, has just taken over in December 2024.
Trained in England
After a hotel school in England, cooking, sommelier and management, and after managing a pub, Amélie continued her career for a few seasons in Courchevel until 2017, cooking for a Russian clientele. After a period at sea, as a sommelier on luxury cruise ships, she returned to her native land due to Covid.
After a job in Loches as a maître d’hôtel, Amélie joined Marco Gauthier at Saint-Mandé, in her native village, as room manager, and it is at the end of 2024 that she takes over the reins of the restaurant .
In the same state of mind that made the restaurant successful, the menus vary every day and the prices remain constant. The products are almost all local, the same goes for Touraine wines.
-Theme evenings
In view of the success of the establishment which is sold out, reservations are essential. Of course, Amélie brings her personal touch, by organizing a themed evening every month, such as the couscous evening on January 25, and probably a sauerkraut evening in February.
The many regulars will not be out of place in this village atmosphere, retaining the same brand, the same style and the same welcome, and where the established reputation is in no danger of disappearing. The place offers, next to the restaurant, a post office for registered and parcel deposits, a grocery store and daily local newspapers.
