Morgan Keane was shot while he was in his garden, but hunters led a hunt a few meters from the same house, where his brother Rowan Keane now lives, on December 29, 2024.
Morgan Keane was 25 years old on December 2, 2020, when he was “mistaken for a wild boar” by an Aveyron hunter. Morgan was chopping wood with his brother Rowan when he was fatally shot while in his garden in Calvignac (Lot).
Four years later, the trauma resurfaced in the worst possible way. Rowan Keane was on his terrace on December 29, 2024 at 2 p.m. when he heard hunters with dogs chasing a wild boar, then a gunshot. The animal was shot 36 meters from the house, the same one in which Morgan was killed.
According to the testimony of a friend of Rowan, collected by our colleagues at La Dépêche du Midi, the hunters took off when they saw the young man approaching. You wonder why they didn’t do it when you come across the “No hunting” sign which marks the place. Rowan took a photo of the bloodied boar left in the wild, just 36 meters from the house. The collective “One day, a hunter”, created after the death of Morgan Keane, is enraged on social networks. “During the trial of those responsible for Morgan’s death, the judge nevertheless recalled that the land around Morgan’s house was prohibited for hunting, and the land now belonging to his little brother was classified as an ASPAS refuge after the tragedy “We are therefore now considering all possible legal remedies.”
A complaint will be filed
La Dépêche du Midi reveals, through Rowan Keane’s lawyer, that a complaint against X will be filed. “Rowan was extremely shaken, he felt like he was reliving the same event as 4 years ago. And he could have suffered the same thing as Morgan since the layout of the hunting party was roughly the same” , explains Me Benoît Coussy. “When he came out, the hunters were positioned in the same way as in 2020. He was a few dozen meters from the rifles.”
The Aveyron hunter, author of the shot which cost the life of Morgan Keane, was sentenced to two years in prison on January 12, 2024, when the director of the hunt received an 18-month suspended prison sentence. Their hunting license was revoked for five years.
