TENNIS – On the tennis courts, Daniil Medvedev is no stranger to losing his temper. During the first round of the Australian Open on Monday January 13, the Russian player did not deviate from the “rule”, since he simply smashed his racket against the net after a lost point.

In this famous exchange, his opponent, the unknown Thai Kasidit Samrej (418th in the world) forced the Russian to quickly go to the net after a shot whose ball was slowed down by the latter’s tape. Finally unbalanced, Daniil Medvedev had to concede the point. And it was while his opponent was apologizing for this lucky shot that Medvedev attacked the net. Except that it contained a small camera in its center. It didn’t last long, just like his racket, as can be seen in the video below.

Five sets

Finalist in three of the last four editions of the Australian Open, the world No.5 ended up winning in a difficult five-set match.

The former world No.1 won 6-2, 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 against the first Thai player to play a singles match in the men’s draw at a Grand Slam since 2012.

Never beaten in Melbourne by a player ranked below 131st, Daniil Medvedev will play in the 2nd round against the young American talent Learner Tien (121st), from the qualifications and also emerging victorious from a five-set fight this Tuesday against the Argentinian Camilo Ugo Carabelli (94th).
