The Brazilian allowed OM to snatch the equalizer and penalties before missing his own. A session during which the Dutch goalkeeper suffered from the comparison with Vito Mannone, author of two saves to zero, and with… Geronimo Rulli, who remained on the bench.
De Lange 4.5/10
Preferred at Rulli as at Saint-Étienne, the French Cup obliges, the Dutchman did not have much to do until Haraldsson crucified him (69). A – failed – recovery at the foot made De Zerbi boil. Stay on your feet against this same Haraldsson (88). No shots on goal rejected even if he started on the right side on the first two.
Murillo 4/10
His shortcomings came to light against an opponent of such caliber. He loses a hot ball, although harmless (16th), stops his run while Haraldsson goes to beat De Lange (68th). Discreet offensively even if he never gave up.
Balerdi 6.5/10
A first period of great importance punctuated by authoritarian interventions mixed with great serenity. After the break, he made a saving tackle (66th). He can’t plug all the gaps…
Cornelius 3,5/10
He knows Jonathan David by heart. Which did not prevent him from being fooled by his compatriot who had gone behind his back for the Lille goal (68th). A match to forget. Replaced by Vaz (84) who, for his premiere, was not shy.
Luis Henrique 5.5/10
A luminous and clear strike synonymous with hope at the end of an evening without much brilliance. Alas, he appears too relaxed when hitting his shot on goal, juggling before facing Mannone. Cutesy the rest of the time.
Hojbjerg 6/10
He is one of the rare Olympians to have swum. Some delicious “exters” (62) and a little trash, just to be choosy. A perfect opening to launch Greenwood towards goal (36) or a timely strike when OM were circling in front of the Lille cage (73).
Rongier 4/10
He didn’t have his usual influence in the midfield, even if he played a few good balls. De Zerbi sensed this and preferred to send Nadir into battle (73). The former Nice player tried to wake up his partners with an overwhelming desire but was not rewarded.
Merlin 4,5/10
Long inside and in difficulty in his corridor before seeing the light with a precise opening for Greenwood (38). Better from there but it wasn’t enough to see the second act, Garcia the substitute for a tasteless entry (3,5/10).
-Greenwood 5,5/10
Two diametrically opposed acts. Extremely inspired during the first, completely turned off for the second. However, he could have made the difference. But he is hampered by Gudmundsson while he has the goal wide open (8), loses his duel against Mannone after a 50-meter race. Disappointing in the end even if he hits wood in added time (90+2) and scores his shot on goal.
Rabiot 4/10
He too declined throughout the match without ever managing to get his head above water. However, it was interesting in the first half. But his experience should have allowed him to be in less difficulty in those moments. Don’t worry about his shot on goal.
Maupay 5/1
Alexsandro was a hell of a client and the Lille native made life difficult for him. Always available, Maupay scores a goal logically refused for having pushed the ball into the back of the net with his arm (38th). A precise cross for Greenwood (8). Replaced by Rowe (65) who wanted to do too much and, in the end, did nothing well, going so far as to miss his shot on goal.
