Wendy Holdener will fight for the podium in the Flachau slalom. The Schwyzoise, 2nd on the first course, is 0”75 behind Katharina Liensberger. The 2nd round begins at 8:45 p.m. (to follow live on RTS 2).
While the Austrian produced a superb effort in front of her home crowd, Wendy Holdener competed at the top before losing time in the last 30 seconds of a very long round. Behind Holdener, we find the Swede Sara Hector at 0”94, which means that only 2 athletes are in the same second as Liensberger.
Fifth at 1”15, Mélanie Meillard will also have the opportunity to seek the first podium of her career in slalom. Like her compatriot, the Valaisanne lost time in the last 2 sectors. First to set off, Camille Rast, for her part, showed shyness. She still limited the damage by placing 8th at 1”50.
For her 103rd and final slalom, Michelle Gisin has not yet achieved a miracle. The Obwalden, winners of the Semmering slalom more than 4 years ago, lacked energy to provisionally occupy 14th place at 2”38.
-Note the poor performance of Zrinka Ljutic. The Croatian, winner of the last 2 slaloms, made a huge mistake at the top and was pushed back to 27th place at 3”70. Not sure she will see the 2nd round.
