On January 12, “Sept à quatre” offered a report on TF1 deciphering a love scam of which a woman was the victim on the internet.

Anne explained how she was trapped and defrauded for a year and a half by a fake Brad Pitt.

Due to an unprecedented wave of cyberharassment, mocking and degrading, of which she has been a victim since the broadcast, the channel has decided to remove this report from all its platforms.

In “Sept à Huit” on January 12 on TF1, Anne, a 53-year-old interior decorator, recounted having paid 830,000 euros to scammers who pretended to be Brad Pitt by sending him false selfies and identity documents. falsified and videos using artificial intelligence. As the show explained in its report, the victim filed a complaint against these cyber crooks and is currently hospitalized in an establishment specializing in serious depression.

“This subject highlights the extreme danger represented today by those we call grazers. A growing scourge: more than 1,200 people were victims in last year, 80% of whom were women. The terrible story of this woman is intended to arouse caution and raise public awareness of this danger of the time, aggravated by the arrival of AI Anne, the victim, wanted to bear witness to this phenomenon which is ruining lives. Already had a similar case with a fake Brad Pitt in Spain last year”explains Philippe Pécoul, producer and editorial director of Éléphant, to TF1info.

Since the broadcast of the report, this woman has been the subject of ridicule from Internet users, mocking her supposed credulity, a judgment that is a bit quick and easy as these stories are numerous and these scams are increasingly sophisticated, aimed at vulnerable people. “Following the broadcast, and faced with the extent of the mockery and the denigration campaign of which she is the target on social networks, we considered, in responsibility and in mutual agreement with the victim, to stop the phenomenon and remove the replay of the show”, completes Grégoire Marçais, deputy director of the production company.
