King Charles III announced that he was suffering from cancer at the beginning of 2024, which obviously led to discussions on his health and in particular on the most dramatic scenarios. Still undergoing chemotherapy, Elizabeth II’s son seems to react positively to it, but there is nothing stopping him from being prepared for the worst. And if King Charles III were to die before Camilla, it has already been decided that the latter would become Dowager Queen. As a reminder, this title is generally held by the widow of a king. Unlike Elizabeth II’s mother, Camilla will not become the “Queen Mother” if her husband dies and William takes the throne. In fact, she is not the mother of the future sovereign, but his mother-in-law since Princess Diana gave birth to and raised Princes William and Harry.
