Australian Open: Cazaux stays alive

3/3 for Arthur Cazaux! Third match in five sets of his career and third victory for the French player. He eliminated the Argentinian Sebastian Baez, seeded n°28 (6-3, 5-7, 3-6, 6-0, 6-3) and reached the second round of the Australian Open, this Monday morning at Melbourne Park.

A 3h43 fight which could well have turned in favor of Sebastian Baez, who led two sets to one and who had a break in advance in the fifth act. But Arthur Cazaux showed enormous mental strength to get through this Monday.

In the most important moments of the match, the Frenchman was able to be aggressive and dictate the exchanges to be master of his destiny. With 46 winning shots against only 22 for his opponent, Cazaux made the Argentinian bend thanks to his striking power.

This is the third consecutive time that the 78th in the world has passed the first round of a Grand Slam. He has not gone beyond this stage of the competition since his superb run at the Australian Open last year where he reached the round of 16.

Cazaux, ranked 78th in the ATP rankings, will face the winner of the upcoming match between Jacob Fearnley and Australian Nick Kyrgios in the second round of the Australian Grand Slam.
