A high-ranking Israeli delegation arrived in Qatar on Sunday for negotiations on a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and the release of Hamas hostages, a spokesperson for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.
The delegation includes David Barnea, head of Mossad, the foreign intelligence service, as well as Ronen Bar, head of the Shin Bet, the domestic intelligence service, and General Nitzan Alon, who represents the army in the discussions.
Qatar is, along with Egypt and the United States, one of the mediating countries in the indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas. Around a hundred Israeli hostages, alive or dead, are still in the hands of the Palestinian group since the attacks of October 7, 2023 in southern Israel.
