The Minister of Transport, Rachid Amri called, Friday, to put in place an urgent rescue plan within a period not exceeding January 16, 2025, to improve the availability of the fleet of the Tunisian National Railway Company (SNCFT). ).
Speaking during a working session with the company’s technicians, the minister also emphasized the importance of finding practical solutions in order to accelerate maintenance operations while waiting for obtaining the allocations necessary to strengthen, in the medium term, the fleet with passenger and freight transport equipment.
He also mentioned the excesses recorded within several SNCFT maintenance workshops, in particular, a lack of efficiency in internal coordination between the different technical units and the central workshops, as well as the absence of a system effective information enabling monitoring, data analysis, evaluation and appropriate decision-making.
The Minister of Transport also emphasized the need to carry out a precise diagnosis of equipment and identify the condition of locomotives, in order to identify priorities for their maintenance, while ensuring effective management. available equipment and stocks of spare parts.
Amri, on this occasion, mentioned that “the current critical situation of the SNCFT”, as well as the financial and structural difficulties it is experiencing, do not prevent the commitment to deploy exceptional efforts to improve the preparation indicators of its fleet, develop its material and human resources, rationalize and preserve its income.
