This gesture, confirmed by Alfonso Díaz, CEO of Mallorca, during a press conference in Jeddah, illustrates the spirit of cooperation between the clubs: “It was discussed, and part of what was due to them was redistributed. Yes, Real Madrid and Barcelona did it. I think Athletic does too, and so do we. It was the same as last season with Osasuna. »

Like last year, the two Spanish giants chose to share part of their winnings from the Spanish Super Cup to reduce the financial gaps between the participating clubs. This initiative had already allowed Osasuna to receive around 1.5 million euros during the previous edition.

This year, Mallorca in turn benefits from this financial support, which underlines the importance of a fairer distribution of income in this competition. Furthermore, Athletic Bilbao, also participating, will receive a minimum of 1.5 million euros, although this amount is still far from the expected income for Real Madrid and Barcelona. According to Markthe La Liga champion could receive almost seven million euros, while Barcelona will receive around six million euros. An example of solidarity which, despite persistent gaps, makes it possible to better support less fortunate clubs.
