According to Cadena Ser, FC Barcelona should obtain the re-registration of Dani Olmo and Victor from the Spanish Sports Council (CSD) as a precautionary measure.

It’s not yet official but Barça would be on the verge of winning their showdown with La Liga for Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. According to Cadena Ser radio, the Higher Sports Council (CSD) will have to authorize the protective re-registration of the two players, ineligible for competitions since January 1 due to the club’s non-compliance with Spanish financial fair play. But the date of delivery of this favorable decision is still uncertain. Retained in the Catalan group for the Spanish Super Cup, the two players will not play the semi-final against Athletic Bilbao this Wednesday.

A re-registration this week?

The CSD would consider Barcelona’s appeal very solid from a legal point of view. He would also consider that the excessive consequences caused by the disqualification of the two players are sufficient reasons to grant a precautionary measure of their rehabilitation before adopting a final decision on the merits of the case.

This very cautious measure does not mean that the two players have the definitive green light to play the rest of the season under the orders of Hansi Flick. But the CSD recognizes that Barcelona’s allegations have a legal basis, “that is to say that the 52-page document that the club presented on Tuesday contains enough arguments to be studied”, explains the newspaper As. CSD legal services have up to three months to study the file carefully.

This week they could record the provisional registration of the two players, who had not been registered in time on December 31, the deadline to respect the salary cap imposed by La Liga. Barça failed to meet these deadlines but put everything back in order two days later and therefore too late for the registration of the players. La Liga and the Spanish Federation (RFEF) then refused to grant a new license to the players, since the regulations prevent them from issuing two (after those of their signings at the club last summer) during the same season. The Superior Sports Council should override this and grant them as a precautionary measure.
