Good news, the price of the visa for Cambodia has just dropped

There is sometimes good news for the traveler, such as the simplification of entry formalities into a country, or even simply the reduction in the price of a visa or an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) to get there. . This is the case these days with Cambodia which, since January 1, has lowered the price of its e-Visa.

30 US$ instead of 36 for a tourist visa

Lower prices are generally a good argument to attract people and tourism is no exception to the rule. It is therefore with this objective of attracting more visitors to its soil that the Cambodian authorities have just reduced the price of their electronic visa. Since the start of the year, it costs US$30 instead of US$36 for a tourist visa and US$35 instead of US$42 for a business travel visa.

A measure which goes in the right direction to “boost” the sector but which many professionals would have preferred to see transformed, so that the country is even more competitive, into total free admission or more simply an exemption for different nationalities as is practiced in many other Southeast Asian countries. It’s true, even if this reduction in the price of the e-Visa is still positive for this country which has just regained its pre-Covid attendance with 6.7 million international visitors last year, including a little more of 100,000 French people.

Current formalities for Cambodia

For French and other Europeans traveling for pleasure, a passport valid for at least 6 months after the planned arrival date is necessary. To which is added an e-Visa available on the approved site evisa.gov.kh for your application. Once accepted, it must be used within 3 months and gives the right to 30 days on site. It is also renewable once for the same duration.

In addition, since summer 2024, an electronic arrival card (e-Arrival Card) is equally necessary for everyone. This is free, is only used for one trip and must be requested at least 7 days before arriving in the country. It can be obtained on the dedicated government portal (www.arrival.gov.kh) or the official application Cambodia e-Arrival.
It should be noted that even if the procedure is different from the e-Visa, applications for electronic visas and thee-Arrival Card could soon be grouped into a single approach which would simplify the lives of travelers going to Cambodia.
