Morocco has jumped two places in the global passport rankings, according to the latest edition of the Henley Passport Index 2025, which assesses citizens’ travel freedom based on the number of countries accessible without a prior visa.
This ranking, based on exclusive data provided by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), reveals that the Moroccan passport now occupies 69th position, with visa-free access to 73 countries. A marked improvement from 71st place in 2024 and 80th place the previous year.
Morocco also stands out as the North African country with the most powerful passport, ahead of Tunisia (73rd, 69 visa-free destinations), Mauritania (84th, 58 destinations), Algeria (86th, 56 destinations), Egypt (90th, 52 destinations) and Libya (100th, 40 destinations). Globally, Singapore still dominates the rankings, with a passport allowing visa-free access to 195 countries, followed by Japan, ranked second with 193 accessible destinations.
European countries occupy the following places: France, Germany, Italy and Spain come in 3rd with 191 destinations, while nations like Austria, Finland, South Korea, Luxembourg, Sweden, the Netherlands, Ireland, Denmark and Norway share 4th place, having access to 191 countries as well.
Further down in the top 10, Australia ranks 6th with 189 destinations, followed by Canada in 7th position with 188 accessible countries. The United States and the United Arab Emirates close the top 10, with 186 and 185 destinations accessible without a visa, respectively.
This ranking reflects the evolution of global travel freedoms, highlighting the most powerful passports and ease of access to international destinations.
