For Brigitte Macron, “if there is one thing that Emmanuel deserves, it is respect”

Understanding for the French and support for her husband. This is, in essence, what Brigitte Macron said, invited to the 13 Heures de TF 1 this Wednesday alongside Didier Deschamps, for the launch of the “Yellow Pieces” 2025.

And if the 36th edition of this operation – which was equipped, for the first time, with an anthem – was the initial subject of discussions, the First Lady was very quickly questioned about the political situation, the dissolution and, more largely, her husband, Emmanuel Macron.

“I feel (the French) anxious, a little lost. They need meaning, they don’t really understand what’s going on,” the tenant of the Élysée for almost eight years immediately admitted. “They are very anxious about the future, because they don’t understand the present,” she insisted.

And if, abroad, “ seems a country of plenty”, on the ground, “daily life remains very difficult”, judged Brigitte Macron, adding that “everything is a factor of anxiety”.

“I’ve never seen it completely unplugged”

The dissolution of the government and the political crisis, in particular. However, Emmanuel Macron’s wife did not blame her husband. “It is history which will give the meaning of this dissolution, whether it should be done or not,” she temporized.

Explaining that she “followed” the reasoning of her husband, who “explained” his decision to her, Brigitte Macron insisted that it was not up to her to “say what (she) thinks about it”. Moreover, she claims to have never given her opinion. “Some newspapers attribute sentences to me that I don’t say,” she grumbled on the TF 1 set.

Despite the unprecedented political situation, there is no question of Emmanuel Macron shortening his mandate, as his opponents are demanding. “I think he used the term political fiction “, she continued to brush aside this hypothesis. “He cares so much about the French… I have never seen him completely disconnect for a single day. He is concerned, he puts all his intelligence and his heart” into his mission, justified the First Lady.

To the point that power has changed him somewhat. “Sometimes what he hears hurts him, but he doesn’t say it, he keeps it to himself,” whereas before “he spoke much more easily,” she reported. “And that, I understand. If there is one thing that Emmanuel deserves, it is respect,” insisted Brigitte Macron. Whatever happens, she is “resolutely” happy at the Élysée. “Every day is an honor.” An honor which should therefore last two more years.
