The Hainaut Assize Court will draw lots this Thursday for the jury responsible for judging Kamel Benale. Man is accused of killing Catarina Dominici, 74, then setting fire to victim’s home to cover his tracks
These facts occurred on February 15, 2022 in Charleroi. The trial will begin next Monday and is scheduled for a week.
The septuagenarian was found dead in a fire in her home, located rue des Peines Perdus in Charleroi. The autopsy report does not mention any smoke inhalation, suggesting that the victim was already dead when the fire broke out.
On the morning of the crime, Catarina Dominici went to the bank and found that her account had been emptied. According to witnesses, she then declared: “I trusted him and he took everything from me.”
According to the investigation, the accused’s phone was located near the victim’s home on the day of the incident.
A drug user, the latter got her supplies from Kamel Benale. According to the indictment, he had access to the septuagenarian’s bank account since he had installed a banking application on the victim’s phone so that she could pay for his consumption.
Since then, Kamel Benale has contested the facts with which he is accused.
