(Jean Doyon) – One of the well-known figures of the specialized television station, Météomédia, is certainly Joey Olivier. But maybe some of you didn’t know that Joey is a “guy from Sorel” and who, moreover, was a journalist at Newspaper The Voice for several years.
In fact, in recent weeks, SorelTracy Magazine received press releases from the School Service Center (Sorel-Tracy), signed by a communications agent named Joey Olivier. Weird, I said to myself! There couldn’t be two. So, I picked up the phone to call my friend Joey, check in on him, and find out a little more about this sudden career change. Indeed, we were talking about the same Joey Olivier.
“I have been in office since September 30, 2024.”Joey said from the outset. “I always lived in Sorel-Tracy, but I worked outside. I had been at Météomedia for 14 years. I was an editor, a columnist, and since 2018 I was content manager, I took care of the editors and the editorial line. Things were going really well, but I got an opportunity at the School Service Center and when I did the interview, I realized I could make a contribution. I also needed new work experience. »he explained during an interview with the STM.

Before working for Météomédia, the 44-year-old man, married since 2005 and father of two children, was editor-in-chief of the Newspaper The Voice from March 2007 to December 2010. Besides, we did “fieldwork” together for a few years.
Before that, he was a communications agent at the Carrefour jeunesse-emploi des Moulins in Terrebonne, a freelancer for the Montérégie Hebdos, and responsible for communications for the Festival de la Gibelotte in 2003-2004.
“I was treated really well at Météomédia, I really loved my years there. But, I felt like I had given everything I had to give, I had the feeling of duty accomplished. »he continued.
We might believe that traveling to Montreal every day could be a source of reflection on this change, but not in his case. “I have been teleworking a lot in recent years, especially since the pandemic. I only went to the station once or twice a week.”
A little more in detail, his job consisted of taking care of written news with the editors, acting as advisors for the meteorologists who made video segments, and also for the content creators. “It was a good ‘timing’ of life. The opportunity presented itself when it was right for me.”concluded Joey Olivier.
The STM wishes a safe return to work “in the region” to Joey Olivier.
