A 64-year-old man was arrested on January 5 after a theft from a car in Puy-en-Velay. The thief made a mistake which allowed the victim to locate him.
Saturday January 4, the owner of a car parked in the Estroulhas parking lot, at Puy-en-Velay (Haute-Loire), discovered that one of its windows had been broken by a thief.
Her phone and her purse, which were inside, were stolen. The victim therefore immediately files a complaint with the police station.
He takes a photo of his foot, the police identify him
But, according to Le Progrès, the latter benefited from a clue allowing the identification of the criminal. In her storage space connected to her phone, the woman receives a photo of the suspect’s foot, taken by mistake.
Thanks to this error, she manages to geolocate her phone and the thug.
The police then managed to locate him at a homeless shelter. The suspect is a 64 year old man.
Arrested and placed in police custody, he is wearing the same shoes as those visible in the photo, but the stolen items cannot be found.
However, the sixty-year-old denies the facts, only confirming his presence on the scene at the time of the theft. Submitted on Tuesday January 7, the latter will soon be tried by a court.
