The Lomami military garrison prosecutor’s office arrested three officers of the Congolese National Police (PNC)/town of Mwene-Ditu on Monday January 6. They are being prosecuted for violating the due process of deployment and staffing of men in uniform. This after the double murder committed by a police officer on two Chinese subjects on December 31.
The officers arrested are the commander of the urban police station of the Congolese National Police, his colleague from Bureau 3 as well as the commander of the mobile intervention squadron (EMI).
According to Colonel Bora Uzima, military auditor of the Mwene-Ditu garrison, these three officers illegally seconded Chief Brigadier Dominique Mutombo Kanyemesha, armed with a weapon, to ensure the security of Chinese subjects; even though he was not part of the authorized strength for this unit.
The auditor describes this act as a flagrant violation of the regular procedure for deployment and staffing of men in uniform as well as article 113 of the Military Penal Code
In a dispute over the distribution of food for the New Year’s Eve celebrations, Chief Brigadier Mutombo Kanyemesha shot three Chinese subjects at point blank range, two of whom died on the spot.
Since then, he has always been running in the wild, despite the one million Congolese francs offered by the town hall of Mwene-Ditu, as a reward to be given to anyone who communicates information about this alleged murderer.
