Several commemorations are taking place this Tuesday, January 7 in tribute to the victims of the January 2015 attacks. The first was held at 11:30 a.m., rue Nicolas-Appert, in 11e district of the capital, where Charlie Hebdo had its premises. Emmanuel Macron, Anne Hidalgo, François Bayrou and François Hollande, President of the Republic at the time of his attacks, are present. Just like Bruno Retailleau, Minister of State for the Interior, Manuel Valls, Minister of State for Overseas Territories, Rachida Dati, Minister of Culture, or Patrick Kanner, president of the socialist group in the Senate.

Ten years ago today, the satirical newspaper was hit by a terrorist attack. Twelve people, including 8 members of the editorial staff, lost their lives in the attack perpetrated by the brothers Chérif and Said Kouachi, French people of Algerian origin who had pledged allegiance to Al-Qaeda. That day, several emblematic figures of the weekly died, like the cartoonist Charb or the caricaturists Cabu and Wolinski.

After a minute of silence and a Marseillaise in front of the former Charlie Hebdo premises, the ceremonies continued a few hundred meters further, at 62 boulevard Richard-Lenoir, still in the 11th arrondissement. Just after the attack on Charlie Hebdo, the Kouachi brothers killed police officer Ahmed Merabet there. The latter was on his last day in the field as a peacekeeper, because he had just passed the judicial police officer competition. There too, a laying of wreaths in front of the commemorative plaque of the assassination was carried out.

Then the procession went to pray in front of the Hyper Cacher, Porte de , in the south of , where four people were killed by Amedy Coulibaly on January 9, 2015.

Finally, this Wednesday, January 8, the city of will organize a tribute to municipal police officer Clarissa Jean-Philippe, killed by Amedy Coulibaly, also author of the Hyper Cacher attack.
