Indian rescuers tried Tuesday to reach miners trapped underground after a well in the country’s northeast flooded the day before, rescue officials said.
Nine men are believed to be trapped in this coal mine and a rescue report mentions three bodies located.
Local residents said at least 27 workers entered the mine in the Dima Hasao region of Assam state on Monday morning, and many managed to escape when waters surged. the well.
The state government minister, Kaushik Rai, told AFP that more than a hundred rescuers, including soldiers, are trying to reach the trapped miners.
The Indian army specified that these troops, which “include divers, engineering soldiers, medical and assistance teams, quickly intervened” to try to get them out.
