Good news for used car buyers. After two years of increases, prices are falling in 2024. This is the assessment of our RTL basket with Autoviza made from thousands of advertisements published on the La Centrale site for occasions under 8 years old.
Thus, the thermal cars drop by 4% i.e. 950 euros saved in one year for an average price of just over 20,000 euros. And 8% reduction for electric ones (hybrids + 100% electric) or almost 3,000 euros less for an average price of 30,000 euros
And this is a first, the drop in prices concerns almost all of the models in our basket, i.e. 10 out of 12.
The biggest drop is in eclectic designs. So for a Tesla Model 3 is a decline of 15% a saving of 5,700 euros. The prize goes to the Renault Mégane E Tech which it loses 18%, this represents 6,700 euros lost in one year for this model which is currently trading at around 30,000 euros.
On the thermal side, if the rating of diesels remains stable, many gasoline models are seeing their prices drop. In this category this is the Peugeot 3008 which fell the most – 11.5% or 2,740 euros less. On the other hand, only 2 models escape the decline. The Dacia Sandero, the best-selling car among individuals, still highly sought-after, sees its price rise + 2% or 275 euros increase.
However, it remains one of the least expensive, selling on average for just over 12,000 euros. Finally, more than 1,900 euros increase for the Toyota Yaris hybrid made in France. The hybrid is increasingly sought after second-hand, while in new vehicles it is now the preferred engine of the French, ahead of gasoline.
