Manchester United, thirteenth in the Premier League, stopped its series of defeats at leader Liverpool (2-2) on Sunday during a display that became spectacular in the second half, where all the goals were scored.

The “Reds” remain solid leaders with six points ahead of their runner-up, Arsenal, with one more match to play.

But they failed to prolong the torments of their great Mancunian rival, who arrived at Anfield with three consecutive defeats in the league, and even four in all competitions.

The visitors opened the scoring with Lisandro Martinez (52nd, 0-1), before being brought down by Cody Gakpo (59th, 1-1) and Mohamed Salah (70th, 2-1) on penalties. They in turn equalized through Amad Diallo (80th, 2-2).

At the end of added time, Mancunian defender Harry Maguire had the ball on goal but his recovery, from a back cross from Joshua Zirkzee, went over Alisson’s goal (90th + 7).

Manchester United moved up a place in the standings by passing West Ham (14th, 23 pts), who have the same total points. Tottenham (12th, 24 pts) are one unit ahead.
