Sidney: India reached 141/6 at stumps after dismissing Australia for 181 on the second day of the fifth and final Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

At stumps, Ravindra Jadeja (8*) and Washington Sundar (6*) were at the crease with the visitors leading by 145 runs. India scored 185 runs in their first innings.

Indian bowlers

For India, pacers Prasidh Krishna and Mohammad Siraj took three wickets each while skipper Jaspreet Bumrah and Nitish Kumar Reddy claimed two scalps each.

Australian batsmen

For Australia, Beau Webster scored 57 runs, while Steve Smith played a 33-run innings.

Bumrah suffers from back spasms

Bumrah, who has been wreaking havoc with the ball in this series, did not take the field after lunch on the second day. Virat Kohli led the team in Bumrah’s absence. Bumrah, who was suffering from back spasms, had undergone tests.

After the match, India’s Prasidh Krishna revealed that his fellow fast bowler was suffering from back spasms.

Bumrah an Australia

According to the ICC website, Bumrah bowled 152.1 in the nine innings of the series, picking up 32 wickets at 13.06. He surpassed Bishan Bedi’s record for the most wickets taken by an Indian bowler while touring Australia, and was closing in on Englishman Maurice Tate’s 100-year-old record for the most wickets by a foreign player during an Australian Test tour, where he claimed 38.
