The man who committed suicide in the explosion of a Cybertruck in front of the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas (United States), Wednesday, January 1, suffered from “post-traumatic stress,” authorities said. According to them, it was therefore an isolated act.
One of the messages left by the soldier found dead in the explosion of Tesla’s Cybertruck on Wednesday January 1 in Las Vegas (United States) has been published. “It was not a terrorist attack, it was a warning signal”the man said before his attack, reported The WorldSaturday January 4. This message seems to confirm the thesis of an isolated act.
“This appears to be a tragic case of suicide involving a decorated veteran… who is struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder and other issues”explained the FBI agent in charge of the investigation during a press conference on Friday January 3. A member of the US Army Special Forces, Matthew Livelsberger ended his life at the age of 37, in a vehicle rented online. The explosion left seven people lightly injured in front of the Trump Hotel. However, authorities are unable to understand how the individual could have committed suicide by shooting himself in the head while lighting fireworks and fuel inside the vehicle.
Vague motivations
Searches on his phone began showing vague motives. Investigators found two letters where he speaks of “political grievances”. “We are the United States of America, the greatest country that ever lived. But right now we are fatally ill and heading toward collapse.”he notably wrote in one of the letters. To explain his action, he spoke of the traumas suffered during his military career. “I needed to clear my mind of the brothers I lost and relieve myself of the burden of the lives I took”he wrote.
According to the American federal police, there is nothing to establish a link between this explosion and the car-ramming attack in New Orleans, a few hours earlier during the New Year celebrations.
