(Montreal) The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) has opened an investigation into the arson of a vehicle that occurred during the night from Thursday to Friday. A suspect was seen by witnesses, but he could not immediately be arrested.

The vehicle was engulfed in flames around 2:30 a.m., while it was in a parking lot located on Rue Lspérance, near Rue Ontario, in the Ville-Marie borough.
The fire was brought under control quickly and caused no injuries, but the vehicle was a total loss.
“According to the first information obtained by the police on site, a suspect was observed near the vehicle when the fire broke out, and he fled before the police arrived,” said agent Véronique Dubuc. , who is a spokesperson for the SPVM.
The vehicle will be examined Friday morning, while investigators from the arson module of the Montreal police force will attempt to collect other evidence to establish the causes and circumstances of this arson.
