It was a dispute in a nightclub which was the cause of an inconsiderate act this Friday morning, around 6:30 a.m. in Vannes. A car would have deliberately driven into two young people who were traveling on foot, as indicated by Ouest-France. The collision occurred several hundred meters from the night establishment, near the Brasserie bleue restaurant, on Winston-Churchill Avenue. The two young people, aged 16 and 21, were seriously injured. One of them was thrown over a wall and landed in the restaurant parking lot.
The pedestrians were on a bicycle and pedestrian path at the time of the collision. The middle finger is the most seriously injured, his life-threatening condition could be in jeopardy. He was transported to CHU Pontchaillou, in Rennes, by a medical team from SMUR.

The 22-year-old author
The minor was treated in an absolute emergency, also by the Smur, and taken to the emergency room of the Bretagne Atlantique Hospital Center. Both are polytraumatized. A third young person who was with them was not struck, but was taken to the emergency room due to psychological shock caused by the scene.
The driver is a 22-year-old man, originally from Angers. The police do not know his official address. He was alcoholic at the time of the events, which is confirmed by the director of the prefect's office Ronan Le Page. In the eyes of the police, there is little doubt about the intentionality of the act at this stage of the investigation. “The video shows us that we are not facing an accident, but a voluntary act. For some crazy reason, this driver decided to hit these people. And he was not driving in slow motion…”, underlines the departmental director of the National Police Philippe Miziniak. The person concerned is not particularly known to the police.
Ruts for 200 meters
An investigation is obviously underway. The driver is in police custody and will be interviewed after he has sobered up. His passenger will be heard as a witness. The police reportedly have other testimonies from people who witnessed the scene, including that of a bus driver from Kicéo, who called the police after stopping the car with her vehicle. The suspect was arrested very shortly afterwards, near the scene of the tragedy.
By mid-morning, the forensic police were carrying out surveys at the scene of the collision. We can clearly see, in three places, and over a distance of 200 meters, the ruts made by the car tires on the grassy space which separates the road from the cycle and pedestrian path.
