A man won the sum of 250,000 euros after scratching a Maxi crossword from La Française des Jeux. This regular had bought his ticket in a tobacco bar in Sainte-Livrade (Lot-et-Garonne) a few weeks ago, report our colleagues from Southwest. He had to go to Bordeaux (Gironde) to receive his winnings.
According to the managers of the business called La Renaissance, the customer only played crosswords for 3 euros or Maxi crosswords for 5 euros. After scratching, “he thought he had won 400 euros, but the machine indicated that he had to contact the FDJ” the traders remember. An alert which predicted a larger jackpot.
A surging crowd
The man therefore called the Française des Jeux and learned that he was going to receive a check for 250,000 euros. But he continued his day normally, leaving for work.
-Since this incredible gain, La Renaissance has experienced a resurgence in attendance. “Other people come here, from everywhere, not just from the town, to play and scratch this type of game,” the managers explain to the regional daily.
A rare gain
According to the FDJ website, you have a 1 in 3.77 chance of winning the Maxi crossword (for 4.5 million units). Out of nearly 2 million prizes up for grabs, only two can win the highest sum of 250,000 euros.
