the essential
Brought forward to Tuesday, December 31, the weekly market at Place Lalaque in Montauban (Tarn-et-Garonne) was calmer than usual on New Year's Eve. We collected the wishes of traders there.
Despite dreary and cold weather, the last market of 2024 on Place Lalaque, which usually takes place every Wednesday, was exceptionally brought forward this Tuesday, December 31 due to the New Year, as was the case last week for Christmas.
There were mainly producers from Tarn-et-Garonne and the surrounding area, half as many people as usual. The big advantage, for once, was to find a parking space more easily, whereas it is usually a hassle to park on market days in Villebourbon. No matter, the regulars, loyal to the market, have not deviated from their habits of coming to do some shopping at their favorite producer.
For others, a few hours before New Year's Eve, it was obviously a race to make the last purchases to repair an oversight, complete, improve a menu (oysters, shellfish, festive poultry, cheeses, wine, etc.) . For this last meeting, the agitation was palpable to end the year well and to start 2025 in the best conditions.
The various producers and merchants did not fail to wish their customers their best wishes for the new year. Our correspondent Gérard Sènes was there to collect them.
