Presented at the Alès courthouse, in , for acts committed in the village of Lasalle, the accused requested time to prepare his defense.

This would be a case that occurred in Lasalle, in the Cévennes Gardoises, on December 26, against the backdrop of a dispute linked to a few dozen euros and which would have led to an argument between two men. One of them, aged 24 and living in this village for several months, is suspected of having set fire to the car of the mother of the man with whom he had just had a disagreement.

Referred this Monday, December 30 before the Alès criminal court to be tried in immediate appearance, after two days of pre-trial detention at the Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone remand center, the defendant, who was visibly drunk at the time of the facts and was convicted on December 20 for a repeat offense of driving under the influence of alcohol, requests time to prepare his defense, as the law allows him.

The defendant “has no illusions”

Quentin Larroque, the deputy public prosecutor, calls for his continued detention until his trial. Even if his client “don’t have any illusions”Me Olivia Betoe, the defense lawyer, “remember judicial review is the principle. I believe we can still leave it out…”

The court does not agree: the accused returns to the cell until his judgment, heard on January 20.
