Five people have been charged in Argentina in connection with the investigation into the death of Liam Payne.

Two of them were placed in preventive detention.

The former member of the boy band One Direction died on October 16 after falling from the balcony of his hotel room in Buenos Aires.

Argentine justice is moving forward in the investigation into the death of Liam Payne. She announced this Monday that she was prosecuting five people, two and a half months after the fatal fall of the 31-year-old English singer, who fell from the third floor of his hotel room in Buenos Aires on October 16.

Three of the accused were charged without preventive detention for manslaughter, and the other two for the offense of supplying narcotics with placement in preventive detention.indicates the prosecution in a press release, identifying the five people only by their initials.

“RLN, representative of the victim and who accompanied Payne on this trip to Buenos Aires to renew his American visa; the hotel manager, GAM, and the hotel front desk manager, ERG, are the three accused as perpetrators of involuntary homicide(…) liable to a sentence of one to five years in prison”further clarified the Argentine prosecutor’s office.

Two men prosecuted for supplying drugs

He adds that a hotel employee, designated by the initials EDP, and a waiter met by Liam Payne in the Argentine capital, whose initials given are BNP, are indicted for “supply of narcotics“. An offense punishable by a sentence of four to fifteen years in prison and which motivated their placement in pre-trial detention. The Argentine media Infobae communicates the full names of the five people charged and specifies that the employee of the CasaSur hotel already been internally sanctioned with a 30-day layoff for supplying drugs to a customer on the day of Payne's death.

The investigation into the singer's death quickly revealed consumption of alcohol, cocaine and antidepressants. The circumstances of his fall remain unclear, even if the prosecution has already communicated that everything indicated that he was alone at the time of the tragedy.
