Runners talk best of the Boussac bullfight. “If there is a win at the end that’s better, otherwise, we will at least have had fun and we will have had fun with the public“, summarizes Rémi Lardellier, who is participating in his third edition this year. This is the aim of a pedestrian bullfight: to be both a sporting event, with experienced athletes like Mr. Lardellier, and also to attract a wider audience .
For the 2023 edition, the first to take place at night, the route had been modified. He always does 6 km, but with three laps of 2 km each. This makes it possible to concentrate spectators in key places in the city, where they can see the runners pass several times, but also to make the race more accessible. On the 280 runners registered this year“around a hundred are licensed in a club” estimates Thierry Cholin, technical manager of the town hall.
Award for the best costumes
Among the participants who come above all to have fun, there are those who come in full costume. “The best costume we had for me was the first year, we had the bride and groom who recreated the scene from Coluche and Thierry Le Luron for us“, remembers Romain Gourgon, president of the city’s athletics club, which co-organizes the bullfight with the town hall. The ten best costumes will be entitled to a special reward.
Another particularity, for a year, the race has been done at night. The opportunity for spectators and runners to enjoy the Christmas decorations a little longer. “The commune of Boussac placed emphasis on the illuminations, it decorated the town hall well, it put a reindeer in front, it’s magnificent” exclaims Thierry Cholin. “She also lit the stained glass windows of the church and there will be a star projected onto its roof.“
Start of the race at 7:15 p.m., in front of the Hallon the Town Hall Square.
