Christmas 2024 was nightmarish for a family from Luchy (Oise), a small village located a few kilometers north of Beauvais. Wednesday, December 25, a mother and her child return home, rue de Fontaine. It’s around 6:30 p.m. By opening the door, a draft of air is created: the fire which had broken out a little earlier inside the house ignites. Despite the rapid intervention of firefighters, the house was completely destroyed.
Fortunately, no one was inside. No human casualties have been reported. But according to The Picard Courierthree Jack Russell dogs died in the fire and three cats were found in the rubble. And at the material level, the house is “completely fucked up» according to Mayor Samuel Payen.
The family relocated to the village
A chain of solidarity was quickly set up within the small town. First, the mayor found something to relocate the little family. “A person who rents in the village made available an apartment which had just become availablehe explains. This is a good thing, because it's not easy to find a house or apartment.»
On the municipality’s website, a call for donations was also launched. “Following the fire that occurred in the town on Christmas Day, we are appealing for your solidarity,” it is written. The interior being burned, (the inhabitants) are rehoused but need blankets, sheets, mattresses, small household appliances, dishes (daily necessities). You can drop off your donations at the town hall Monday, Tuesday or contact the mayor.” According to the latter, the first donations have already flowed into the town hall. And others should arrive on Monday, the town hall being closed this weekend.
