Pink, purple, luminous green streaks… In the bay of Morlaix (Finistère), on several occasions in 2024, the Northern Lights illuminated the celestial vault. Photographer or videographer in Morlaix, Aymeric Artus, of Sky Art’s Production, and Sévane and Benoist Degonne, of the Chambre 27 studio, set out to chase these dawns before sharing hypnotizing photos with as many people as possible on social networks.

Perseverance
After immortalizing Louët Island on May 11, Aymeric Artus placed his camera at the Pointe de Primel and at the Pointe du Diben, in Plougasnou, on the night of August 12 to 13. Clouds block the sky, but his perseverance pays off. “At 11:40 p.m., the sky cleared. » Despite everything, he needs his camera to take advantage of it, because to the eye, “we can only see a tint, something abnormal”.

“An all-night festival”
At night, a long exposure time is necessary to capture the light. Aymeric Artus opts for a photo “every 20 seconds”. “It was an all-night festival. It’s always wonderful to see the photo appear,” he smiled.
Benoist and Sévane Degonne also took advantage of this show. “Photographing the Northern Lights is much more than a simple technical exercise: it is an adventure that combines passion, patience and wonder, they say. Waiting for hours in the Breton cold, scanning the horizon and adapting your settings to capture the perfect moment are all challenges. »
