Falling at home at 48-24 from Vannes, with the bonus, Pau gives itself some air at the bottom of the ranking
The Pau Section won with the offensive bonus against Vannes and is enjoying a breath of fresh air at the bottom of the standings. For its part, the Breton club remains bottom of the Top 14. Beka Gorgadze, third row and captain of Pau, summed up: “We stuck to the plan. We had trouble executing it at the start of the match, we couldn't get the ball. But over time, our occupation game gave us opportunities. When we picked up the speed, we had the opportunities. Sometimes we get carried away, it costs us dearly, we let the teams come back. But we score six tries, offensive bonus, the mission is accomplished.”
Thibault Debaes, the Vannes opener, did not hide his disappointment: “We focused on the start of the match because we thought that Pau would do the same and that it would be important. We stayed in the shot for 10 to 15 minutes. Then we moved away from it and Pau seized the opportunities. The two tries at the end of the first half gave us a headache. We lost the little kicking battles. It’s perhaps Vannes’ least successful match this season.”
