Accident in Milan, pirate overwhelms mother and disabled boy then runs away: arrested

Two people on the ground lifeless, a wheelchair destroyed and a car destroyed. Then the driver, who is looking at the two bodies on the ground, shifts into first gear and leaves. It left a mother and her disabled son lying on the asphalt. Injured. And he, a 61-year-old Egyptian citizen, was put in handcuffs. The hit-and-run driver who hit a 39-year-old woman and her 13-year-old son (in a wheelchair) in via Enrico De Nicola in Milan on the afternoon of Friday 20 December was arrested by the local police for failure to help.

It all happened around 2.30pm in the San Paolo hospital area, as reported by the regional emergency agency (Areu). According to a very first reconstruction by the local police, it seems that mother and son were crossing on the pedestrian crossing when they were mowed down by the car. The conditions of the mother and the boy immediately appeared serious, so much so that the 118 operations center sent two ambulances and two medical vehicles with code red.

Both were transported to Niguarda under yellow code. The woman suffered a fractured pelvis and injury to her facial orbit and will be operated on Monday 23 December. The boy, however, was discharged with a three-day prognosis. The club gave him a new wheelchair because his was destroyed following the accident.

The driver who caused the accident, however, left the scene of the accident without providing assistance. Commander Gianluca Mirabelli's agents tracked him down and arrested him while he was at his home, in via De Pretis (a few hundred meters from the scene of the accident). From Piazza Beccaria they made it known that the cameras and the testimonies of the people present at the scene of the accident were fundamental as they indicated to the “cast irons” that the pirate car was a gray Peugeot.

Three incidents with pirates in just a few days

The accident in via De Nicola is a tragic reminder of the accident that took the life of Rocio Espinoza Romero, the 34-year-old woman hit and killed by a truck on 10 December in viale Renato Serra. The victim, who lived not far away, was crossing the street with her mother and her one and a half year old twins, both in a stroller.

The family had been hit by a truck driven by a 24-year-old boy, who stopped for 4 seconds after the impact and then took off again. The driver, now under house arrest, continued to work and was stopped an hour and a half later by the officers, who tracked him down in a quarry in Arluno.

On Tuesday morning, however, a 61-year-old municipal manager knocked over a mother and her three-year-old daughter in Piazza Durante al Casoretto. Despite the impact, the driver of the car then took off again, moving away and losing track. The little girl, rescued by the 118 doctors, was instead accompanied to the Niguarda emergency room. The “belts” fortunately prevented her from being catapulted onto the asphalt, but in the accident she suffered facial trauma and a cut to her face.
