Émilie Abrantes, public prosecutor of Limoges, gave, during her press conference, a major element on the conduct of the investigation which has just opened.
She indicated that she had first opened a flagrant investigation for “murder” before, finally, retaining the criminal qualification of “violent robbery resulting in death”.
The prosecutor therefore did not choose, at this stage, the most serious qualification of “premeditated murder or ambush which constitutes assassination”, according to article 221-3 of the Penal Code.
She also requested that she be placed in pre-trial detention. According to our information, the suspect has since been incarcerated.

A decision motivated by the statements of the young person accused during his custody, according to the magistrate's account:“he confirmed the motive for the crime, arguing that he had gone to this meeting to steal the victim's phone and had armed himself with a knife to be able to intimidate her if necessary. He confirmed that the latter had struggled, that she had contacted her sister on the telephone to call for help and that, in a panic, he had grabbed the telephone and stabbed her several times for fear that her cries would cause alarm. 'alert”.
The autopsy carried out this Tuesday, December 17 will be decisive for the rest of the investigation. The prosecutor indicated this Monday that Inès' body presented a “forty wounds, notably on the neck, under the left breast and on the back and some were deep, but also numerous defensive wounds”.
If it appears, during this forensic examination, that the accused gave “voluntarily deatht”, the facts could then be reclassified into “murder”, according to article 211-1 of the Penal Code.

Given his age of fifteen, the young person involved is likely to be tried before the children's court, ruling on criminal matters, the Assize Court for minors being provided for from the age of 16.
The penalty incurred by an adult for “violent robbery resulting in death” East “life imprisonment”but for a minor, according to article L121-5 of the Penal Code, “it cannot be more than twenty years of criminal imprisonment or criminal detention”.
