DEATHS – Spanish actress Marisa Paredes, whose career was notably marked by the six films she shot under the direction of Pedro Almodóvar, died at the age of 78, the Spanish Academy of Cinema.

Born in Madrid in 1946, Marisa Paredes chaired the Spanish Cinema Academy between 2000 and 2003 and enjoyed international success thanks, among other things, to her appearances in the feature films of Pedro Almodóvar.

“Spanish cinema loses one of its most emblematic actresses, Marisa Paredes, who leaves behind a long career during which the public was able to see her more than 75 times on the big screen”declared the Academy of Spanish Cinema on X.

Of ” Life is beautiful ” has «The skin I live in»

After starting out at the age of 14, Marisa Paredes’ career took on a new dimension after her first collaboration in 1983 with director Pedro Almodóvar, for the film “Into the Darkness”.

They will then work together to “Stiletto heels”, “The flower of my secret”, “All about my mother”, “Talk with her” et «The skin I live in»in 2011, their last collaboration.

Rewarded among others by an honorary Goya in 2018, during the Spanish equivalent of the Césars ceremony, Marisa Paredes has also appeared in international productions such as ” Life is beautiful “by the Italian Robert Benigni, or “The Devil’s Backbone”by Mexican Guillermo del Toro.
