For Daniel Riolo, the stopping of the PSG-OL match (3-1) for the insulting chants in the Parisian stands depicts an infantilization of the supporters. In After Foot on RMC, the editorialist deplores that the Parc des Princes is the place for “lessons for the whole world”.

Was the PSG-OL referee right to interrupt the match because of the insulting chant – “The Lyonnais are sluts!” – chanted by ultra Parisian supporters in the stands of the Parc des Princes? The question was raised by theAfter Foot on RMC the day after this meeting won 3-1 by the capital club.

“We are not talking about children who are on a school trip, but about adults who are going to a stadium. We are trying to re-educate or educate people by telling them the good manners”, was surprised editorialist Daniel Riolo, in the program broadcast on Monday December 16.

Riolo deplores “lessons for the whole world”

Faced with the argument developed by Florent Gautreau, who brushes aside the idea that we can “do everything because we are in a stadium”, Daniel Riolo once again pointed out an infantilization of supporters. “Once again, these are not ten-year-old children. The second aspect is that it is always the Parc des Princes which must be seen as the place where we are going to teach lessons to the whole world. “It’s painful. You’re getting off on the wrong foot by constantly sending the message that it’s PSG in the Sunday evening match that’s happening. So you’re going to rob the Parisians.”

When the referee demanded that the chants stop, the fans eventually responded by chanting: “Who cares?” This did not escape Daniel Riolo, who feared that the threat of a permanent stoppage of the match would not be appropriate in this case. “It’s possible that they continue to say: ‘We don’t give a damn, we don’t want to take a lesson, that’s it and that’s it. (…) You don’t have to constantly trying to educate us.”
