FC Barcelona’s return to Camp Nou could happen later than expected.
Since the start of the 2023/2024 season, the FC Barcelona no longer plays in its usual stadium, the Camp Nou. For work reasons, the Blaugranas had to move to the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, better known as the Montjuïc Stadium. During the renovations, Barça must make do with this second stadium before returning to a new Camp Nou, which promises to be historic. Issue : his return is long overdue.
Playing at Montjuïc and playing at Camp Nou are far from being the same thing. From a financial point of view, the Montjuïc Stadium does not bring in as much in ticket sales as the emblematic Barcelona stadium. For this reason, the managers hoped for a return mid-season, around January or February or even March. However, those responsible for the work are aiming for a much later date. Indeed, the return of FC Barcelona to Camp Nou should not take place at the beginning of 2025, but rather during the next season, between September and November 2025.
No Camp Nou, but no Monjuic too?
The return to Camp Nou is the priority of the club leaders. The legendary stadium is a real fortress and playing there gives the Blaugranas a considerable advantage. However, with the work requested, rturning around at the start of 2025 seems to be unfeasible in view of the current summer at the Barça stadium.
This news is far from positive because the leaders have not yet anticipated a return this late. For this reason, the contract with Monjuic Stadium ends in March 2025and the club will not have a field if the contract is not renewed. However, the club would remain confident for a return to Camp Nou at the start of 2025.
