Volkswagen launches into natural gas trucks

In Brazil, Volkswagen's heavy goods vehicle division is preparing to begin testing the Constellation 26.280, its first truck running on biomethane.

Although the Volkswagen group has largely reduced its range of natural gas vehicles in Europe, it continues to invest in other markets considered to be more promising. While its Czech division Skoda is considering marketing CNG cars in India, tests will soon be carried out on the Brazilian market where the manufacturer is interested in the bioNGV solution as an alternative for heavy mobility.

The program is supported by Volkswagen Trucks and Buses (VWCO)a subsidiary of the Traton group, itself belonging to Volkswagen AG. Launched in 1981, VWCO is very present in Latin America and particularly in Brazil where it has a factory in Resende, in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

A carrier of 280 horses
