The United States struck a Houthi command center in Sanaa overnight, as Yemeni rebels increase their attacks against Israel. The US-British strikes targeted the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense, according to the Al-Mayadeen channel, marking a significant escalation in the response to Houthi provocations. On Monday, warning sirens sounded again across Israel after a missile was fired. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree claimed responsibility for the attack four hours later, saying they had launched “a Palestine-2 hypersonic ballistic missile toward a military target near Jaffa.” In response, Hezam al-Asad, a member of the Houthis’ Supreme Political Council, threatened in Hebrew on X: “The Israeli enemy will pay the price for its continued brutal aggression and siege of our people in Gaza.”
The attacks have intensified since the beginning of December. On the 3rd, the Houthis claimed three operations coordinated with “the Islamic Resistance in Iraq”, targeting northern Israel and the Eilat region. More recently, a drone exploded in an apartment in Yavne, causing significant damage without causing any casualties.
Faced with this growing threat, the IDF is preparing a possible new operation in Yemen, after the bombing of the port of Hodeida on July 20. Israeli military sources highlight a “unique window of opportunity” linked to the weakening of the Iranian axis in the Middle East. “Israel could carry out a strike against Iran, with or without the United States,” these sources indicate.
According to Ynet, the drone threat remains a major challenge: “They fly low, are slow and manage to surprise – like the drones used by Hezbollah.” Israeli officials promise a “meaningful response”: “There will be no restraint, they will receive what they deserve. They will pay a high price.”
